PAT Testing Services

Helping you to reduce electrical fire hazards in your facility

Our service

We provide Portable Electrical Appliance Testing (PAT) testing across Corby, Kettering, Market Harborough and the M1 Corridor from London to Leicester.

To achieve compliance with the regulations you need to make arrangements to make sure that any portable electrical appliances are safe to use.

The items may already be high risk, i.e. electrical drills, or the danger may be increased by using them in a high risk environment such as wet conditions, like a steam pressure cleaner or electric mower.

Items must be inspected by a competent person on a regular basis. It is recommended that a record of all maintenance including test results are kept for each appliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Portable Electrical Appliance Testing (PAT) tests are conducted on electrical appliances to make sure they are safe to use.

  • The Health and Safety Executive states that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances. The Electricity at Work Regulation (1989) placed a legal responsibility on employers, employees, and self-employed persons to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take ‘reasonably practicable’ steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment.

  • PAT testing is not just an annual check by a qualified person. Frequencies vary from testing once a month, to once every four years.   In addition the employer (or duty holder) should carry out formal visual inspections. Most businesses request to have this undertaken once a year.

  • You will receive a itemised report of all items inspected along with a certificate of compliance.
Any faults or failures will usually be repaired on site at the time of testing.
